What can be bought on this site, what cannot be bought at any price, and how paid placement is disclosed.
What can be bought
Featured placement, and nothing else. A company pays to appear in a band that is labelled “Paid placement” wherever it renders, and each card inside it carries the same label independently. Monthly or annually, cancellable, and the price is shown before you buy.
What cannot be bought, at any price
- Position in search results or in browse.
- A rating, or any change to one.
- A position in a ranking.
- Removal, suppression or reordering of a review.
- A verification indicator.
- Inclusion in, or favourable treatment within, a guide or comparison.
- The removal of a competitor.
These are not policies we intend to honour; they are constraints built into how the software works. Our neutrality policy states them and our editorial standards cover the content side.
How placement is disclosed
In as many words, every time. A featured band says it is paid placement in its heading area, and every individual listing card inside carries its own label — because the card is the component that appears on every surface of the site, and a disclosure that lives only in a section heading disappears the moment the card is shown somewhere else.
Paid placement never appears when a visitor has chosen an explicit sort order. If somebody asks for highest rated, they get highest rated.
Partnerships
We are open to arrangements that make the directory more useful — data sources, research, syndication. We are not open to anything that trades editorial or ranking treatment for money, and we would rather say that at the start than waste your time.
Write to verify@financialservicescompanies.com with “Partnerships” in the subject.
Affiliate links and commission
We do not currently earn commission on any product arranged through this site, and no link here is an affiliate link. If that ever changes it will be disclosed on the page where it applies, not only on this one.
