Answers to the questions readers and listed companies ask most often.

For readers

Is a listing here a recommendation?

No. A listing means the company exists and we hold information about it. It is not approval, and it is not a judgement about whether the company is a good choice for you.

What does “matched to a public register” mean?

An identifier for that company appears in a regulator’s own published register, and we link to the register entry so you can check it. It does not mean the regulator approves of the company, and it does not mean we do. See how verification works.

Can a company pay to rank higher?

No. A company can pay for featured placement, which appears in a band labelled “Paid placement”. It cannot change position in search results, ratings, or rankings. See our neutrality policy.

How do I write a review?

Find the company and use the review form on its profile. You need an account, so that there is a person attached to what is written. Reviews are read by a moderator before they appear, and you will be told the reason if yours is not published.

My review was not published. Why?

You will have been emailed the reason and the rule it relates to. If you think we got it wrong you can contest the decision from your account — one appeal per review, and a person reads it.

For listed companies

How do I claim my listing?

Create an account and claim it. You verify the connection with an email address on the company’s own domain, its published phone number, or a document a moderator reads. Claiming is free.

Can I remove a negative review?

No, and neither can we for that reason alone. You can reply to it publicly, once, and you can report it if it breaks our review guidelines — the review stays visible while a moderator looks.

Can I ask my customers to review us?

Yes. There are limits on how many invitations you can send, and you may not condition any incentive on a positive review. Doing so gets the reviews removed.

How do I remove my company entirely?

Ask, from the portal. A moderator decides, and the answer is not automatically yes: where a listing carries published customer reviews that people rely on, we usually keep it. We will tell you which it is and why.
